As of March 2026, Electronic Applications for Subsidized Purchase of New Fully Electric Vehicles in Serbia

In February 2026, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Decree on the Conditions and Method of Implementing Subsidized Purchase of New Vehicles Powered Exclusively by Electric Drive (“Official Gazette of the RS”, No. 12/2026), continuing its policy of supporting e-mobility and the transition toward low-emission transport solutions.

A key novelty introduced by this year’s program is the fully digital application process. Requests for subsidies must be submitted exclusively through the state-operated Portal eUprava, significantly simplifying and centralizing the administrative procedure.

Applications may be filed from 1 March to 30 September 2026, or until the allocated budget funds are exhausted. For 2026, a total of RSD 170 million has been earmarked for this purpose. Subsidies will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that applications are complete and duly submitted.

The program is administered by the Ministarstvo zaštite životne sredine, which may suspend the procedure once the available funds have been depleted. As in previous years, the possibility of securing additional funds remains open, depending on budgetary developments.

Eligible beneficiaries include natural persons, entrepreneurs and legal entities. The subsidy applies to the purchase of new vehicles powered exclusively by electric drive, including mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles, passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

The amount of financial support ranges from EUR 250 to EUR 5,000 per vehicle, depending on the vehicle category. For passenger electric vehicles, the maximum subsidy may reach EUR 5,000, payable in the dinar equivalent at the official middle exchange rate of the National Bank of Serbia on the date of payment.

Subsidies may be used either as part of the purchase price (in case of direct payment) or as participation in a financial leasing arrangement. In leasing transactions, the applicant is required to provide a minimum 15% down payment prior to the application of the subsidy.

Upon approval, the beneficiary receives a formal decision specifying the vehicle details, the approved subsidy amount and the applicable deadlines. Within eight days of receipt of the decision, the beneficiary must submit the executed purchase or leasing agreement and proof of payment. Failure to meet this deadline results in the loss of entitlement for the current subsidy cycle.

From a compliance perspective, applicants should ensure that all documentation is complete and accurate, particularly with respect to vehicle specifications, contractual terms and payment confirmations. Given the limited budget and strict procedural deadlines, timely preparation and careful submission are essential to secure funding.

The 2026 subsidy scheme represents another regulatory step in Serbia’s broader environmental and digitalization agenda. By combining financial incentives with a streamlined electronic procedure, the state aims to further stimulate the adoption of fully electric vehicles across both the private and corporate sectors.
