What will the new Single Window Law bring to businesses?

The recently adopted National Foreign Trade Single Window System (NJS) introduces a unified digital platform intended for businesses engaged in the import, export, and transit of goods. Through this system, it will be possible to submit applications electronically, obtain permits and approvals, submit documentation, and receive decisions from competent authorities – all in one place, without the need to visit multiple counters in person.

The system operates as a centralized digital network connecting businesses with customs authorities and other public institutions involved in foreign trade procedures. Instead of parallel communication with different bodies, all applications and documents will be exchanged through a single portal, shortening processing times, reducing administrative costs, and increasing the transparency of procedures.

Of particular importance to businesses is the establishment of an external portal through which applications are submitted and all stages of the procedure can be monitored, while authorities use the internal part of the system for case processing and decision-making. The system also includes services for electronic messaging with customs, integration with existing information systems, e-payment modules, monitoring of quantitative write-offs, and electronic recording of issued decisions.

The law distinguishes between two categories of users: external users – companies, entrepreneurs, individuals, and their authorized representatives who submit applications – and internal users – government authorities responsible for deciding on applications and carrying out controls. For companies, the NJS effectively represents a digital “one-stop shop” through which all administrative matters related to foreign trade are handled – from submitting permit applications to receiving final decisions.

In practice, the implementation of the Single Window System means a significant simplification of procedures, improved process transparency, reduced risk of delays in business operations, and more efficient planning of international shipments. Companies with frequent or complex import and export flows can expect particular benefits, as the administrative side of their operations is centralized into a single coordinated point of communication with all relevant institutions.
